Emmy loved our trip to Bear Lake. Water, sand, lots of aunts and uncles...what 1 year old wouldn't enjoy it? After a rough time last year at Bear Lake (when she was only 4 months old and hated the wind, sun, and anyone who was not her mom or dad), we were cautiously optimistic about this year. It couldn't be much worse, right? After one afternoon at the lake, we knew that Bear Lake and Emmy were meant to be together.
Thursday was perfect. It was hot, the water was warm, and the wind was non-existent. I good introduction for Emmy. She played in the water and sand and then we took her out in a little baby float. (Thanks to Brian and Jen being a little more prepared for Cam than we were for Emmy!) Since the lake is shallow for so far off shore, she could walk around and take herself where she wanted to go. She loved it! (Especially since there were two dogs on a boat nearby!)
Emmy also gained a new interest in and love for her only girl cousin, Madi. (They are 11 months apart which seems huge now but won't be in a year or so.) Nanna was getting both girls ready for baths in the trailer, and Emmy was amazed to discover that Madi looked an awful lot like herself! She kept patting her belly as if to say, "I have a belly, and Madi has a belly! Look, everyone! We're the same!"
From then on, Emmy was in love with Baby Madi. Every time she saw her, she would try to give her a hug, tickle her toes, or shove her binky in her mouth (ever the helper!). We were just little nervous to let her hold Madi, but she loved it so much that we had to let her! And, as you can see, she tried to be very "soft" with her. 
And, FYI, the booties Emmy is wearing were the best thing in the world. She could walk well in the water or on the sand and they kept her feet from getting cut or burned by the hot sand. Highly recommend them! (I think my mother in law got them at Target or the like. Thanks!

She is so cute! We love Bear Lake! It's just so beautiful up there. Sounds like you had such a great time! Bria has that same swim top. I love it because I don't have to worry about her shoulders or back getting burned. I really want to find those booties for Bria for next summer. What a great idea!

Ah it looks like you guys had a great time!! Sarah's gonna turn 1 in a month and her and Emily are already having a great time together and they are 14 months apart. Before you know it Emmy and her cousin are gonna be gettin in trouble especially if they are only 11 months apart :)
