Beach Day!

On Wednesday, we visited another beach. Brett and his dad researched on the internet to find the best tide pools close by. We went to the designated spot and were met by a trail leading down to the beach through a dense rain forest (kind if like Juneau). We decided to try the hike because it didn't look to far but it was steep switch backs going down and the trail got a bit slippery with plant growth. After a mile or so we got a view of the beach and it was still quite a ways away! The girls had gone ahead with Katy so Brett and Nate ran ahead to catch them while the rest if us headed back up the switchbacks with Aaron. We took turns carrying him and let him walk sometimes. When he was walking he had a hard time going more than 3 steps before needing to pick up another rock or strip bark from a decomposing tree. :)

When we made it back to the cars we drank the little water left in our camelbaks from the hike the day before and then drove a few miles down to another beach. It was beautiful sand but no tide pools. :( But Brett still managed to find a huge crab. 

Emmy, Nate, Brett and I had fun playing a game in the waves that involved seeing how far into the ocean we could set our rocks without having the white waves touch us. Somehow we still ended up pretty wet. :) 

Abby and Aaron LOVED playing in the sand. Aaron doesn't even need a shovel. He just digs with his hands. Abby built quite the sand castle with Katy but Aaron knocked it down before I thought to get a picture. 

We also got in the hot tub for the first time today. The girls have been asking (begging) since Sunday so they were very happy it happened! They played after lunch and then again after dinner. I took Abby in for a rest after playing about 20 minutes. (Aaron was already napping.) Emmy stayed out with Kerry for at least an hour! She is our little fish!

We enjoyed just playing games (and napping) at the beach house in the afternoon.
